Seneca Gaming Corporation's Christina Jimerson Honored

Buffalo Business First 2020 Women of Influence "Behind the Scenes" Award Recipient

NIAGARA FALLS, NEW YORK: (August 17, 2020) Christina “Chrissy” Jimerson, Seneca Gaming Corporation’s Executive Director of Compensation and Total Rewards has been honored as a Buffalo Business First 2020 Women of Influence “Behind The Scenes” Award Recipient.

“I am humbled and honored to be selected and recognized by the distinguished group of women leaders who comprise the award’s selection committee,” said Christina Jimerson, Executive Director of Compensation and Total Rewards, Seneca Gaming Corporation.

Christina Jimerson is the very definition of a Woman of Influence! She began her career with Seneca Gaming Corporation (SGC) in 2003 and worked her way through the department from Human Resources Coordinator all the way to Director of Benefits. Jimerson was also elected to the Seneca Nation Council in 2012. In 2016, Christina finished out her 4-year term as a Councilor, received her MBA from Canisius College, was honored as part of the “Native American 40 under 40” class from the National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development, and asked by then Seneca Nation President Todd Gates to serve as his special advisor.

Jimerson rejoined the Human Resources team as the Executive Director of Compensation and Total Rewards in 2018. In her role, Christina oversees Compensation, Benefits, and Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS). She is engaged in all areas of HR and influences decisions across the Human Resources enterprise. She further directs the planning, design, implementation, compliance, communication, and administration of corporate-wide compensation and benefits programs. While maximizing total compensation value and responsibly managing Seneca Gaming Corporation’s investment in its team members, she ensures that all of these programs support the corporation’s strategies, business objectives, and talent acquisition and retention goals.

Her advocacy for the Seneca Nation of Indians led to her election as a Councilor from 2012-2016, the Legislative branch of the Seneca Nation government. In this position, she also served as the Tribal Council and Executive Liaison for the Tribal General Welfare Exclusion Act. During her tenure on the council, she served on several committees including Budget and Finance. As a Councilor, she often traveled to Washington, D.C. to speak with elected officials about matters important to the Nation, including advocacy for the Tribal General Welfare Exclusion Act, which passed in 2014. Additionally, Jimerson also served as the alternate delegate for the Seneca Nation at the National Congress of American Indians. Her commitment to community affairs continues with her position as second vice president of the Board of Directors of the Native American Finance Officers Association (NAFOA), a national organization dedicated to growing tribal economies and strengthening tribal finance policy, and serving on the Brooks-TLC Hospital Board of Directors where she is a member of the Finance Committee.

“We are thrilled that Christina has been recognized. Seneca Gaming Corporation is honored to have her as part of the team that she serves every day,“ said David Sheridan, Interim CEO & CFO, Seneca Gaming Corporation. “We have known all along that she is a Woman of Influence and determination.”

“Chrissy is a great asset to our team and we are excited that she has been honored by Buffalo Business First,” said Meghan Smith, Corporate VP of Human Resources, Seneca Gaming Corporation. “She is a fierce and consistent advocate for her community and the corporation.”

During her 13 years in the Seneca Gaming Corporation Human Resources Department, she has been a driving force behind the success of the department serving the entire corporation with over 3,700 employees spread across four properties throughout western New York. She is committed to serving the corporation and her community. In addition to her MBA, Christina also has a B.S. in Health Services Administration from the State University of Fredonia in New York. Jimerson is an incredible asset to her local community, the corporation, and to advocacy for the world at large.
